The Duke University Union (DUU) Visual Arts Committee would like to announce its 2009 call for submissions for exhibition in the Louise Jones Brown Gallery. Located in the Bryan University Center on the West Campus of Duke University, the Louise Jones Brown Gallery provides a unique and professional space for artists to display their work in a solo show for 4-6 weeks. Local artists are given precedence. Our jury call deadline is Tuesday, June 30th 2009. Artists with work in all mediums including painting, photography, sculpture, and film are encouraged to apply.
Exhibiting Artists receive:
- Prominent gallery space (see layout)
- 4-6 week solo exhibition
- Gallery security and insurance
- Exhibition Advertising
- 2 hour reception with light refreshments and music
- Sale of work at 20 % commission
To apply, please send :
- Resume and Artists' Statement;
- A one page description of your proposal for exhibition:
- Documentation of your previous work: 10-20 slides or digital material on CD (preferred)
- A Self addressed envelop
- Optional: The Visual Arts Committee is constantly looking to provide visual-arts related programming to Duke students. Thus we ask you to submit a brief proposal of a possible one-time educational outreach class or any type of arts-related programming you could possibly offer to Duke students during the time of your work is exhibited. This will be considered in our selection process as well.
