The Cabinet of the Duke Student Government is appointed by the President and confirmed by the DSG Senate. Cabinet positions are created and filled throughout the year as projects arise.

Position Descriptions
Chief of Staff
The Policy Chief of Staff is the closest confidante of the President, and thus the highest available role that is appointed. He or she will direct policy projects as laid out by the President's agenda. He or she must possess extensive institutional knowledge in order to be successful.
Treasurer
The treasurer will handle all monetary and budgeting issues for DSG and assist any member of DSG in securing funding for a project or event. The treasurer is responsible for managing the funds of DSG, Kville, ICC, and working with SOFC to administer half a million dollars to student groups. He or she should have prior experience working as a treasurer of a student organization, working in OSAF and/or with SOFC. One or more of these experiences is a necessity.
Attorney General
The attorney general is responsible for coordinating freshmen senate elections in the fall, executive elections in the spring, and upperclassmen senate elections in the spring. He or she will be responsible for finding better software to run the elections. The Attorney General is both the head of the election commission and charged with confirming the constitutionality of actions by DSG members.
DSG Executive Secretary
The Executive Secretary assists the Executive Board with administrative duties. He or she will work closely with the Executive Vice-President in creating agendas, preparing for meetings, and coordinating office meetings. He or she will also work with the Chief of Staff to ensure the DSG office is being used effectively.
Head Line Monitor
The HLM serves as the director of K-ville and the person who revises the tenting, walk-up and wristband policies for the 2008-2009 academic year. He or she will be involved in women’s basketball games in addition to the men’s.
Senior Policy Advisor
Chosen for exceptional institutional knowledge and a proven ability to lobby administrators, the Senior Policy Advisor is responsible for helping the President nuance and finish policy initiatives. He or she is also responsible for mastering the intricacies of the administration so as to guide other members of the cabinet through the relevant offices in pursuit of the goals of the President’s agenda.
Tech Director
The Tech Director serves as the liaison to OIT and assists any DSG member with issues related to technology or OIT. He or she should already have established relationships in OIT.
Director of Student Services
The Director of Student Services will work with the Vice President for Athletics and Campus Services to administer many ongoing student services based projects. This includes the DSG newspaper program.
Director of Special Projects
The Director of Special Projects will work with the Chief of Staff to assist with projects that are not necessarily handled by one Vice President.
Public Relations Director
The PR Director will publish information on upcoming campus and student group activities and DSG projects and announcements. He or she will also assist senators and other members of DSG in writing to The Chronicle and other local media outlets.
Liaison for Religious Life
The Liaison for Religious Life will be the President’s chief advisor on the diversity of religions present at Duke and will be responsible for government efforts to engage religious life on campus and to support valuable campus initiatives which may have a faith-based element.
Liaison to the Freshman Class
The Liaison to the Freshman Class serves as the conduit between DSG and the residents of East Campus. The Liaison is responsible for promoting DSG and encouraging new students to get involved on campus, through regular office hours in the Marketplace and town hall meetings on East Campus.
Webmaster
The Webmaster must update the website weekly and stay in contact with the Executive Board and members of the cabinet for information to be added to the website. He or she will also be responsible for expanding the current “student organizations” website.
Office Manager
The Office Manager is responsible for keeping the meeting schedule of the DSG office updated. He/She will also work on several special projects throughout the year that deal with the DSG Office.
