Standing Committees
There are five official standing committees, of which one is the SOFC, which no longer draws its membership from the senate. Two senators from each class are elected to each of the following four committees:
Community Interaction (VP: Genevieve Cody)
The Community Interaction Committee of the Duke Student Government serves as an advocate for students and student groups, coordinates the Inter-Community Council, ensures strong ties with the administration and faculty, promotes interaction among students, and attempts to foster new and build on old bonds with the Durham community.
Athletics and Campus Services (VP: Sunny Kantha)
The Athletics and Campus Services Committee seeks to improve the undergraduate student experience by generating tangible results in the areas of safety and Duke police, Parking and Transportation Services, facilities, construction and capital projects, University athletics, intramurals and gymnasiums, Event Management, student services and overall University operations.
Academic Affairs (VP: Gina Ireland)
The Academic Affairs Committee works to improve the experience of undergraduate students inside the classroom and works to help foster a healthy learning environment at Duke. The Committee deals principly with issues relating to access to academic resources, academic equity, and student academic rights.
Student Affairs (VP: Lucy McKinstry)
The Student Affairs committee deals with the many elements of the Division of Student Affairs, including CAPS, the Career Center, Student Health, the Office of Judicial Affairs and more. Student Affairs is primarily responsible for improving the support structure for students, and plays a large role in policies pertaining to student life on campus.
