There are several ways you can get involved with the Duke Student Government. The two main ways are by directly joining the organization as a senator, cabinet member or DSG committee member, or by applying to serve on a Presidential, University or Trustee Committee to which we appoint members. We will keep this section updated with opportunities as they arise throughout the year.

Freshman elections are to be held September 26th, and at large senators will be interviewed on September 24th and elected at the general body meeting on September 27th

(PLEASE NOTE: THE APPLICATION SAYS IT IS DUE THE 11th, IT HAS BEEN EXTENDED A WEEK TO THE 18th.)

DSG Cabinet openings

Each DSG Cabinet position has a unique position description, but each contributes in an important way to the function of DSG. Click here to find out more about the DSG Cabinet.

For the 2008-2009 academic year, the following positions are available:

• Chief of Staff
• Treasurer
• Attorney General
• Executive Secretary
• Head Line Monitor
• Tech Director
• Director of Student Services
• PR Director
• Webmaster
• Student Group Outreach Chairs (3)
• ICC Executive Director (appointed by the VPICC)

2008-2009 DSG Cabinet Application (click here)

Thank you for your interest in applying for a cabinet position for the 2008-2009 academic year. You are more than welcome to apply for more than one position. All positions must hold office hours for a minimum of 2 hours a week, meet with the cabinet at weekly meetings, and perform their designated tasks. All selections of DSG Exec must be approved by the DSG Senate.

In order to be considered for a position, you must complete the 2008-2009 DSG Cabinet Application (see above) no later than 5 PM on FRIDAY, APRIL 11.

When you return your application, you must sign up for an interview which will take place on Saturday, April 12.

Committees with openings

A current list of all the committiees to which we appoint representatives or on which DSG officers serve can be found here. Vacancies will be announced at the beginning of the year and applicants will be interviewed in early September.

Student Organization Finance Committee (SOFC) Elections

Applications for the SOFC election must be turned in to the DSG office by September 19 at 5 pm.

DSG Judiciary Application

• Application for the 2007-2008 DSG Judiciary deadline has been extended until Tuesday, November 13th.
