About DUU |
Rachel Saperstein is the Director of External Liaisons for the Duke University Union.
Responsibilities
The Duke University Union is a student-run programming organization, which aims to cater to the wants and needs of the student body. We recognize, however, that there is no way for one group of people to know what event each and every student would like to experience during his/her time at Duke. Thus, Director of Liaisons aims to give any student with a programming idea the opportunity to see that event executed. In essence, we have the experience and the funding to program a range of events, and we want your ideas!! DUU is not a funding organization—we will not simply provide students with money to put on their own event—but we do want to work with individuals and groups at Duke to broaden the range of events that occur at the university. If you have a great programming idea and want to see it come to life, please contact Rachel discuss this possibility! (Also see our co-sponsorship form on this website).
Background
Rachel Saperstein is a senior this year, majoring in psychology and elementary education. Over the past three years she has been actively involved in the Education department, her sorority (Chi Omega), and her selective living group (Round Table), but her most rewarding and valuable experiences at Duke have come from her time on the Duke University Union. Previously serving as Executive Secretary (‘04-05), Broadway at Duke Chair (‘05-06), as well as On Stage Chair (‘06-07; now LiveEnt), Rachel is thrilled to head up the newly created position: Director of Co-Sponsorships. Rachel loves to plan and execute events, and although her first love is theatre she enjoys working on projects involving all forms of the arts. After graduation, Rachel hopes to draw upon the valuable skills she learned in DUU and elsewhere and to continue to work in event and/or arts programming.
