2008-09 Annual Budgeting Has Begun!

The time for creating the 2008-09 Annual Budget for DSG Chartered organizations is upon us. If you are the president or the treasurer of a Chartered organization, please download both the applications and instructions found in the links on the left side of this page.

Budgets should be completed and submitted before Thursday, March 13th by noon via email to sofc-internal@duke.edu. You will receive an email confirming your submission by the night of March 15th along with the time and location of your budgetary hearing before the Student Organization Finance Committee. These meetings will take place in the weeks following Spring Break.

If you have questions about how to fill out the budget, there are several ways to seek advice. First, we have an instructional document posted on the SOFC website which you should view before beginning on the application. Second, we will be holding information sessions on at least two nights next week. The exact times and locations of these information sessions will be posted on the SOFC website (link above) before this Friday. If, after these informational sessions, you still have questions, consult with the SOFC representative listed for your type of group in the Annual Budget instructional document.

Please note – Many groups are “Recognized” by Duke Student Government and not “Chartered.” Only Chartered organizations may apply for funds in the Annual Budget. If you are a new group treasurer, your predecessor should have left you with knowing which status your group holds. If you are unsure, please send an email requesting whether you are chartered or recognized to sofcChair@duke.edu. You should receive a response within 48 hours.

Student Organization Finance Committee and Auditing Elections

  • Applications to join the Student Organization Finance Committee (SOFC) and the Auditing Committee of DSG are now available on the SOFC website.
  • Applications must be submitted to the DSG Office of the Bryan Center by 5:00 pm on Monday, September 17th . Members will be elected by the DSG Senate on Wednesday night on the 19th of September.
  • Please contact SOFC Chair Alex Crable with questions or concerns at adc15@duke.edu.

August 12th 2007

Annual Budgeting for chartered student groups has been completed. The next round of budgeting will begin in the Spring of 2008-2009.
